The famous Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans has been renovated bringing back its mid-1900s glamour and elegance after a slow decline and then a final blow by Katrina. There’s a lot of history in this hotel. Anyway, word of my photography — particularly a black and white series I shot in the early 90s — made its way to the designers during the renovation and planning. Consequently they decided to acquire nine of my photographs for the hotel’s Teddy’s Cafe, right off the main lobby.

Here are some pictures of the pictures and the cafe. Also, some shots from their recent Grand Opening weekend which featured The Neville Brothers, Allen Toussaint and Irma Thomas. Festivities also included a Sunday brunch in the Roosevelt’s Blue Room featuring remarkable jazz clarinetist Tim Laughlin. I ended up in a very fun on-air interview with the renowned Spud O’Connell from WWL Radio who was broadcasting from the hotel that morning. In the 1940s, 50s and 60s, WWL was known far and wide for its live broadcasts from the Blue Room. As I said, lots of history in that hotel.

You can see the actual photographs that are in the cafe at my website – click on the album “Royal Street” in the Gallery. Even better, visit the hotel. They’ve got a great website: http://www.therooseveltneworleans.com/
